AFTERCARE

Your Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare Plan

Taking care of your skin from the moment you leave our studio is crucial for best results. Follow these guidelines for optimum recovery times and scar free skin health.

Immediate Care (On the Day of Treatment)

  • Keep the Area Clean: Gently clean the treated area with mild, fragrance-free soap and water. Pat it dry with a clean, soft cloth.

  • Apply Ice Packs: To reduce swelling and discomfort, apply ice packs wrapped in a cloth to the treated area for 2-5 minutes at a time.

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect the treated area from direct sunlight. If going outside, cover the area with clothing or use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF.

Care for the Following Days

  • Keep it Clean: Clean the treated area daily with mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh or scented soaps, as they can irritate the skin.

  • Moisturise: Apply a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturiser to keep the skin hydrated. Avoid petroleum-based products, as they can clog pores.

  • Avoid Scratching or Picking: Itching is common during the healing process, but avoid scratching or picking at the treated area to prevent infection and scarring.

  • Avoid Tight Clothing: If the treated area is on a body part that can be covered, wear loose, breathable clothing to prevent irritation.

  • Pain Management: If you experience discomfort, you can take over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, following the recommended dosage.

  • Avoid Swimming and Hot Baths: Stay out of pools, hot tubs, and bathtubs until the treated area is fully healed to prevent infection.

  • No Gym or Strenuous Activities: Avoid intense physical activities that may cause sweating or friction on the treated area.

  • Follow Post-Treatment Guidelines: Your technician will likely provide specific instructions. Follow them carefully and attend any follow-up appointments.

Long-Term Aftercare

  • Protect from the Sun: Even after the area has healed, protect it from the sun to prevent hyperpigmentation. Use sunscreen with a high SPF and cover the area with clothing when outdoors.

  • Be Patient: Complete tattoo removal often requires multiple sessions. Be patient and follow the recommended treatment schedule for the best results.

  • Consult a Professional: If you notice any signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or discharge, or if you have concerns about the healing process, consult the technician or a healthcare professional promptly.

Remember, the specifics of the aftercare plan can vary based on the type of laser used, the size and colour of the tattoo, and individual skin types. Always follow the advice provided by your laser tattoo removal technician for the most accurate and personalised aftercare guidance.
